North Denver along Quebec Street is the budget hotel corridor — a string of highway-adjacent chain hotels with free parking and prices $30-40 less than downtown. You'll need a car or rideshare, but it's only 15-20 minutes from LoDo and 30 minutes from Red Rocks. Great for road trippers and anyone who prioritizes savings over walkability.
Downtown / LoDo
Downtown Denver and LoDo (Lower Downtown) center around Union Station, Coors Field, and the 16th Street Mall. It's the walkable heart of the city with Denver's best restaurants, craft breweries, and nightlife. Hotels here cost more but the free 16th Street Mall shuttle and light rail keep you connected to everything.
Airport / Gateway Park (Tower Rd)
The Gateway Park and Tower Road cluster along I-70 and Peña Boulevard is where Denver's airport hotels actually sit — a grid of chain hotels with big free lots, chain restaurants and gas stations. It is not at the airport: the terminal is still 8-10 miles up Peña Boulevard, a 10-15 minute shuttle ride. Nearly every property here runs a free airport shuttle, and many sell park-sleep-fly packages. The Westin, connected to the terminal, is the one exception and is priced like it.
Aurora / Anschutz Medical Campus (I-225)
Aurora is Denver's big eastern suburb, and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus — UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado and the VA — sits on the old Fitzsimons Army base at Colfax Avenue and I-225. Hotels split into two clusters: a handful of newer chain properties on Colfax within a mile of the campus gates, and a cheaper strip of older chains and extended-stays along I-225 at Alameda, Mississippi and Iliff, 3-5 miles south. Both are a 10-15 minute drive to any hospital entrance; only the Colfax cluster is walkable to it. Nothing here is a tourist neighbourhood — it is medical, military and commuter, with chain restaurants, a King Soopers or Safeway within a mile of almost every hotel, and free parking nearly everywhere.
