1The situation
You are driving to DEN from Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, the mountains or Wyoming, flying out early, and you need somewhere to leave the car for a week. DEN's own lots are not one price but four: the 61st & Peña lot is $8 a day and reaches the terminal by A Line; the Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mt. Elbert shuttle lots are $10; the East and West Economy lots are $17; the covered Terminal Garage is $35. Over a week that is $56, $70, $119 or $245 — a spread wide enough that which lot you pick matters more than which hotel you pick. Park-sleep-fly packages at the Tower Road / Gateway Park hotels bundle a night's room with parking for the trip and a shuttle both ways. The right comparison is package price versus room-plus-N-days-of-airport-parking at the lot you would actually have used, not package price versus the plain room rate.
2What you actually need
The number of parking days the package actually covers
Packages commonly cover a fixed number of days (often in the 7-14 range) with a per-day charge beyond that. A 10-night trip on a 7-day package is not what you priced. Get the days and the overage rate in writing.
Shuttle both ways, including your return
The outbound shuttle is easy. Coming back, you land, collect bags and call the hotel from Level 5 for pickup. Ask how that works at the hour you land and how long the wait typically is.
The real comparison number
Room plus airport economy parking for your trip length is the benchmark. If the package is not clearly cheaper than that, the bundle is not saving you anything — though it may still be worth it for the early-morning convenience.
Where the car sits
Ask whether it stays in the hotel's own lot, whether the lot is fenced and lit, and whether the hotel accepts any responsibility. Most do not; park accordingly.
3The shortlist4 hotels, cheapest first
Each hotel is here because it meets the requirements above — not because of its star rating. Prices are nightly rates before tax for the default dates; volatile facts (shuttles, parking terms) are stated as what to confirm, not as promises.

Four tiers, not one: 61st & Peña $8/day (A Line to the terminal, not a bus); Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mt. Elbert shuttle lots $10/day; East and West Economy lots $17/day, free shuttle every 7-10 minutes, 24/7; covered Terminal Garage $35/day. A week is $56, $70, $119 or $245. Rates change — check DEN's parking page before booking.
Park-sleep-fly packages
Typically one night's room plus a set number of parking days plus airport shuttle, sold as a named rate. The benchmark to beat is $70 for a week in a $10-a-day shuttle lot, or $56 at 61st & Peña — so a package priced much more than $60-70 over the plain room rate is not saving you money, it is buying you convenience. Days covered and overage charges vary; confirm directly with the hotel.
Shuttle to the terminal
10-15 minutes from the Tower Road cluster in normal traffic; allow 30 minutes door to curb on a shared shuttle. Confirm first and last departure times with the hotel.
Return pickup
Call the hotel from Level 5 (hotel shuttle island outside baggage claim) on landing. Ask the hotel how late pickups run and whether a rideshare (roughly $15-30) is the fallback.
Private off-airport lots
Several on Peña Boulevard and Tower Road. Price them against $10 a day in DEN's own shuttle lots rather than against the $17 economy lots or the $35 garage — the official cheap tier is the real competition, and some private lots quietly price above it.
Prices and schedules change. Treat figures as ranges and check before booking.
5What to avoid
⚠️Comparing the package to the plain room rate and deciding it is 'expensive'. Compare it to room plus your trip's worth of airport parking — and use the right lot: $10 a day in a shuttle lot, not $35 in the garage.
⚠️Assuming 'free parking' means trip-length parking. Standard free parking is for registered guests; the car must be gone at checkout. Park-sleep-fly is a separate named package — ask for it by name.
⚠️Booking a package at a hotel whose shuttle does not start early enough for your flight. The parking is no use if you end up in a rideshare at 4am anyway.
⚠️Leaving the car longer than the package covers without telling the hotel. Overage charges are usually fine; an unexplained car in the lot for three weeks is a tow risk.
6Book
Use the rate links on each hotel above. If a hotel's value depends on a named package (park & cruise, shuttle), confirm the package with the hotel before you pay — packages are usually direct-booking rate codes, not OTA rooms.
