Downtown Vegas
Downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street area) is old-school Vegas — grittier, cheaper, and more character than the Strip. The Fremont Street Experience offers free entertainment, and casinos here have better odds and lower table minimums. Budget hotels downtown are genuinely affordable but check reviews carefully.
The Strip
The Las Vegas Strip and its immediate surroundings form the tourist epicenter of Vegas. This includes hotels directly on Las Vegas Boulevard as well as those within a 10-minute walk. It's where the action is — but also where the resort fees are highest and the bait pricing is most aggressive.
South Strip & Airport
The southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard and the streets west of it (Dean Martin Drive, Blue Diamond Road) sit right against Harry Reid International Airport. The terminal is 5-15 minutes from almost everything here, and that is the whole point: this is where you stay for a 6am departure or a 1am arrival. The hotels are a mix of chain limited-service properties near the Tropicana/I-15 interchange and big locals' casinos (South Point, Silverton) further south with free parking and no bait-pricing.
