Hotels for a very late arrival at San Antonio Airport (SAT)

Verification pending — confirm directly with the hotel

1The situation

You land at SAT after 11pm — or after midnight once the delay is counted — and you want a bed, not a logistics problem. The airport is small and you'll be curbside quickly, which is the good news. The bad news is that the shuttle you were counting on may have stopped at 11pm, the front desk at a limited-service hotel may have gone dark, and 'we'll hold your room' means different things at different properties. Staying within a couple of miles of the terminal means a rideshare is under $15 if the shuttle doesn't show, which is why the Loop 410 cluster beats downtown for this particular night.

2What you actually need

  1. A 24-hour staffed front desk

This is the non-negotiable. A desk that closes at 11pm plus a flight that lands at 11:40pm is a night in the lobby vestibule. Most chain hotels in the SAT cluster are staffed overnight, but confirm directly with the hotel rather than assuming.

  2. A shuttle that actually runs after midnight — or a short, cheap rideshare

Many 'free airport shuttles' have a last run around 11pm or midnight, and after that it is 'call the desk' with a driver who may already have gone home. Ask the last shuttle time. If you land after it, budget $8-15 for a rideshare from the lower-level curb.

  3. Your room held for late arrival, in writing

Most bookings with a card on file are held all night, but some rate types (especially prepaid third-party ones) can be released as no-shows. Call the hotel with your flight number so there's a note on the reservation.

  4. A realistic plan for food

Nothing in the Loop 410 corridor is walkable at 1am, and the hotel breakfast is hours away. Either eat at the terminal before leaving or know that the nearest 24-hour options are a short drive.

3The shortlist3 hotels, cheapest first

Each hotel is here because it meets the requirements above — not because of its star rating. Prices are nightly rates before tax for the default dates; volatile facts (shuttles, parking terms) are stated as what to confirm, not as promises.

4Practical logistics

Airport
San Antonio International (SAT), about 8 miles north of downtown off US-281 / Loop 410. Two terminals, A and B, side by side; a three-gate ground-load facility opened on the east end of Terminal A in March 2026. An all-new Terminal C is under construction for a targeted 2028 opening, and terminal-roadway lane closures began in March 2026 — allow a few extra minutes at the curb and confirm the current layout before you travel.
Hotel shuttle pickup at SAT
All ground transportation — hotel and courtesy shuttles, rideshare and pre-arranged charters — works the lower level outside baggage claim at both terminals. There is a hotel courtesy-phone kiosk in baggage claim, and the airport's own guidance is to call your hotel for its specific arrival and departure times rather than expect a continuous loop. Terminal C construction has closed lanes at the end of Terminal Drive since March 2026, so confirm the pickup spot with the hotel when you call.
Rideshare terminal to Loop 410 hotel cluster
Typically $8-15 for a 5-10 minute ride; more at surge times and very early mornings. Downtown is roughly $20-35 and 15-25 minutes.
SAT long-term / economy parking
The Economy Green and Red lots are the cheap ones at roughly $8 per 24 hours with a free shuttle; the Long-Term lot runs about $10 a day, the Long-Term Garage about $16, and the Short-Term Garage about $27. Those figures come from third-party rate trackers because the airport's own parking site is script-driven and does not publish a plain rate table — confirm at flysatparking.com before you book, as rates change.

Prices and schedules change. Treat figures as ranges and check before booking.

5What to avoid

  • Limited-service or independent motels with a desk that closes at night. The cheapest room in the corridor is not cheap if you can't get into it.
  • Relying on an 'on request' shuttle after midnight without having confirmed it by phone that day — the courtesy phone at the curb is answered by whoever is on the desk, and that may be nobody.
  • Prepaid non-refundable rates from third-party sites when your flight is the last of the night. If the flight cancels, you have paid for a room you can't use; if it's very late, the booking may not be flagged for late arrival.
  • Booking downtown for a late landing to 'be close to the River Walk tomorrow'. It's a $25-35 rideshare at 1am versus $8-15 to the airport cluster; move downtown the next day if you need to.

6Book

Use the rate links on each hotel above. If a hotel's value depends on a named package (park & cruise, shuttle), confirm the package with the hotel before you pay — packages are usually direct-booking rate codes, not OTA rooms.
