You're driving in from Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Connecticut or the rest of New Jersey, and you need somewhere to leave the car for a week. Two things to know before you start. First, Cape Liberty's own lot is $35 a day including tax — no reservations taken, you turn up and pay — so a week runs to roughly $245-280. Second, and less comfortably: genuinely free cruise-length parking barely exists here. This is the New York area, land is expensive, and the hotels that hold a car sell it as a package or a nightly rate rather than giving it away. What they can beat is the port's $35, and some of them throw in a shuttle. There is also no hotel in Bayonne itself to fall back on — the clusters are the Newark airport strip in Elizabeth, Staten Island across the Bayonne Bridge, and the Jersey City waterfront, and only the first two do cruise parking at all.

Cape Liberty is two miles down a peninsula. A free parking spot is worth nothing if the hotel then sends you to a $30-45 rideshare each way with luggage. Check whether the package includes a shuttle, or price the rideshare into your comparison.

The real clusters are the Newark airport strip in Elizabeth (about 20 minutes, big lots, established park-and-cruise culture), Staten Island across the Bayonne Bridge (about 20 minutes, free guest parking at the South Avenue chains), and the Jersey City waterfront (15-25 minutes, paid garages only, no cruise parking).

⚠️Booking a Manhattan hotel because it's 'near the port'. It is across the harbor, parking is $50-80 a night, and the morning transfer through the Holland Tunnel is the worst version of embarkation day.
