Hotels that take pets without a per-night fee in Dallas

1The situation
Dallas is a driving city at the centre of a driving state, so plenty of people arrive with the dog in the back seat. Most chains now say 'pet friendly' and then charge $25-75 per pet per night, which turns a $79 room into $129 and a week into an extra $350. A handful of brands have historically welcomed one pet free or for a single flat fee: Motel 6 and Studio 6, and Red Roof, are the reliable ones. Every policy below is marked 'historically' on purpose — these are franchise decisions that change by location and by year, and the only version that counts is the one the property confirms to you before you book.
2What you actually need
A policy that is no fee, or a flat fee per stay, not per night per pet
The distinction is the whole saving. 'Pet friendly, $25 fee' can mean $25 once or $25 per pet per night; ask which, and ask about weight and number limits.
Free parking and a door you can reach from the car
A dog means trips outside at odd hours. Exterior-corridor motels with free parking are far easier than a downtown tower with a $40 garage and a lift.
Somewhere to walk the dog
Freeway frontage roads are not it. Ask the desk where guests actually walk dogs, and whether pets can be left alone in the room — many no-fee properties say no.
Confirmation in writing
Policies vary by franchisee. Get the pet terms in an email or on the confirmation before you arrive, especially for a large dog or more than one pet.
3The shortlist3 hotels, cheapest first
Each hotel is here because it meets the requirements above — not because of its star rating. Prices are nightly rates before tax for the default dates; volatile facts (shuttles, parking terms) are stated as what to confirm, not as promises.
1.Red Roof Inn Dallas - DFW Airport North

Red Roof Inn2-starRenovated 2007

Red Roof's brand policy has historically been one pet per room at no charge, with weight limits at some locations — which at this price makes it the cheapest way to fly out of DFW with a dog. Policies vary by property, so confirm the current terms and any size limit directly before booking.

Motel 62-star

Motel 6's policy is confirmed on the brand's own reservation-policies page: pets stay free, two per room, 150 lb combined — the plainest in the country. This location adds free parking and an indoor pool. Franchises can still refuse an individual booking, so call ahead.

Motel 6 takes pets free (two per room, 150 lb combined). Red Roof takes the first pet free and charges about $15 a night for a second. Studio 6, despite the shared brand, charges $10 a night to a $75 per-stay cap — it is an extended-stay exception, not a no-fee option. Confirm at the property: these are franchises and some Dallas-area locations take no pets at all.
Typical fees elsewhere
$25-75 per pet per night at most mid-range chains, sometimes capped per stay. Always ask whether the figure is per night or per stay, and whether it is per pet.
Summer heat
Dallas pavement in July and August burns paws by mid-morning. Walk early and late, and never leave a dog in a parked car — a shaded Texas car park still reaches lethal temperatures in minutes.
Damage deposits
Even no-fee hotels may hold a card authorisation against damage. Ask whether there is a hold and when it is released.
Prices and schedules change. Treat figures as ranges and check before booking.
5What to avoid
⚠️Reading 'pet friendly' as 'no fee'. It almost never means that at mid-range chains; ask for the exact fee and whether it is per night.
⚠️Assuming a brand policy applies at a given property. These are franchises — Red Roof's own site notes that some Dallas-area locations do not accept pets at all.
⚠️Booking downtown with a large dog. Paid garages, lifts and no grass make every walk a project.
⚠️Turning up with two pets when the policy says one. Limits are enforced at check-in, and the alternative is a kennel at 9pm.

Use the rate links on each hotel above. If a hotel's value depends on a named package (park & cruise, shuttle), confirm the package with the hotel before you pay — packages are usually direct-booking rate codes, not OTA rooms.
