Boston hotels with a shuttle to the cruise terminal

Verification pending — confirm directly with the hotel

1The situation

You're flying into Logan the day before, or you've arrived without a car, and you want the last mile to Flynn Cruiseport handled. Boston's honest answer is that very few hotels run a dedicated cruise-terminal shuttle. What exists instead is three substitutes: Seaport hotels close enough to walk or take a five-minute taxi; airport hotels with a Logan shuttle, from which the terminal is a 10-15 minute ride; and the MBTA Silver Line, which runs through the Seaport and is the cheapest link between Logan, South Station and the port. Pick the substitute that matches how much luggage you have.

2What you actually need

  1. Know which kind of 'shuttle' the hotel actually has

In Boston 'complimentary shuttle' almost always means an airport shuttle, sometimes a loop to the nearest T station. Ask whether it will drop at Flynn Cruiseport specifically, on embarkation morning, and whether that is a standard run or a favour from the driver.

  2. Departure timing against your cruise line's arrival window

Embarkation windows are typically late morning to mid-afternoon. An airport shuttle that runs on demand is fine; a fixed-time 'downtown loop' at breakfast time is not. Get the time in writing if one is promised.

  3. Luggage and group size

Hotel vans are 10-14 seats. On a Saturday with a ship in port, the airport-hotel shuttles fill with flyers too. A family of five with cruise luggage should reserve a van or budget a minivan rideshare (roughly $30-50 from the airport area).

  4. A public-transport plan B

The Silver Line SL1 (Logan to South Station) and SL2 (South Station through the Seaport) cost a standard MBTA fare and are immune to tunnel traffic surges. SL2 stops a short walk from Black Falcon Avenue. Check routes and timings on the MBTA site — they change, and weekend frequencies are lower.

3The shortlist6 hotels, cheapest first

Each hotel is here because it meets the requirements above — not because of its star rating. Prices are nightly rates before tax for the default dates; volatile facts (shuttles, parking terms) are stated as what to confirm, not as promises.

4Practical logistics

Seaport hotels to the terminal
Measured from our own coordinates to Black Falcon Avenue: Hampton Inn Seaport 0.25 mi (about a 6-minute walk), Hyatt Place Seaport 0.34 mi (8 minutes), Seaport Hotel 0.57 mi (14), Element 0.61 mi and Aloft 0.62 mi (15). All are genuinely walkable without a shuttle; with heavy bags a taxi is five minutes and about $10.
Logan airport hotels to the terminal
10-20 minutes via the Ted Williams Tunnel; $20-35 by taxi or rideshare. Hotel shuttles serve Logan, not the cruiseport — confirm directly with the hotel.
Silver Line
SL1 Logan-South Station and SL2 South Station-Design Center both pass through the Seaport. Standard MBTA fare. Confirm current routing and weekend frequency before relying on it.
Quincy / Braintree to the terminal
20-40 minutes by road, $30-60 by taxi. The Red Line from Quincy Adams or Braintree to South Station, then SL2, is the cheap alternative if your luggage allows.
The port is seasonal
Flynn Cruiseport runs roughly April to November. Outside that window there are no homeport sailings from Boston, and the parking arrangements above do not operate — worth knowing before booking a room around a shoulder-season cruise.

Prices and schedules change. Treat figures as ranges and check before booking.

5What to avoid

  • Booking an airport hotel 'with shuttle' and assuming it goes to the ship. Almost all go to Logan only. If the confirmation email doesn't say Flynn Cruiseport, you don't have a cruise shuttle.
  • Relying on a single promised van run on a Saturday embarkation with no rideshare plan B — tunnel traffic and a second ship in port will both happen to you eventually.
  • Paying a Seaport premium of $100 or more a night purely to be 'walkable' when a $25 taxi from an airport hotel does the same job.
  • Taking the Silver Line with four big suitcases at rush hour. It's a bus; it works best for couples with carry-on-plus-one.

6Book

Use the rate links on each hotel above. If a hotel's value depends on a named package (park & cruise, shuttle), confirm the package with the hotel before you pay — packages are usually direct-booking rate codes, not OTA rooms.
