Hotels near PortMiami with free cruise parking

1The situation

You're driving to Miami, sailing for a week, and you need somewhere to leave the car. PortMiami's garages are among the most expensive in the country and pricier than this page used to say: $25 a day at the common-use garages and $35 at Garage AA and Norwegian's Garage B, so a 7-night cruise is roughly $200-280. They are on the island, so there is no cheap alternative next door, and downtown hotels charge $30-50 a night and will not hold a car for a week at any sane price. The hotels that will are out by the airport, where the lots are big and 'park and cruise' is a named product — and there the parking inside the package really is free: Holiday Inn Miami International Airport covers up to 14 days, Red Roof PLUS+ a full week, the Hampton up to seven nights. What is almost never free is the ride to the ship. Budget $12-15 a head each way and check whether the return leg exists at all.

2What you actually need

  1. Parking for the full length of the cruise, not just your overnight

'Free parking' on a Miami listing almost always means free while you're a guest, and at the downtown hotels it doesn't even mean that. Cruise parking means the car stays 7-8 days after check-out and is a separate, named package. Ask for it by name and get the number of days in writing.

  2. A confirmed ride to the port without the car

The airport cluster is 8-10 miles from Dodge Island. If the parking is free but the shuttle isn't included you're paying $25-40 each way for a rideshare with luggage, which eats most of the saving.

  3. The return leg

Disembarkation at PortMiami is early and the taxi and rideshare queue is long. Know whether the hotel shuttle picks you up, at which terminal, and how you contact it — or budget for a rideshare back to the car.

  4. Where the car actually sits

Some airport hotels hold cruise cars in an overflow or partner lot rather than the one by the lobby. Ask whether it is on-site, fenced and lit, and whether the package is capped per day — they do sell out on Saturday sailings.

3The shortlist5 hotels, cheapest first

Each hotel is here because it meets the requirements above — not because of its star rating. Prices are nightly rates before tax for the default dates; volatile facts (shuttles, parking terms) are stated as what to confirm, not as promises.

That is the cheapest way to hold a car by the airport, and well under the port's $25-35 a day. The lot is smaller than the full-service hotels', so confirm a space is held for your dates.

4Practical logistics

PortMiami official parking
It depends which terminal, and the spread is wide. PortMiami's published long-term rates are $25 per day at Garages C, D, F, G and Surface Lot E; $35 per day at Garage AA; and $35 per vehicle per space per day at Garage B (Norwegian), effective 1 January 2025. Garage A (Royal Caribbean) is bookable online only. So a 7-night cruise runs roughly $200 at the cheaper garages and about $280 at Garage AA or B — not the $150-175 this page used to claim. Oversized vehicles use Surface Lot E at $25 per space per day, or $50 if you take two spaces. Clearance heights run from 6'8" to 9'6" depending on garage and floor. **Debit cards are not accepted** — cash, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover or a major US traveller's cheque only. A lost ticket costs up to $275. Confirm current rates with the port before you travel.
Airport-area hotels to PortMiami
8-10 miles via the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836); 15-20 minutes in normal traffic, 30+ at Saturday midday.
Downtown / Brickell hotel parking
Typically $30-50/night, and often valet-only — the downtown Holiday Inn charged $45 plus tax with no self-park option before it closed. None hold cruise cars. Use the port garage or an airport-cluster package instead.
Rideshare airport area to port
Typically $20-35 each way; surge is common on embarkation mornings.
What the airport hotels actually include
Sourced, and the parking really is free inside these packages — it is the transfer that costs. Holiday Inn Miami International Airport: free parking up to 14 days with a park-and-stay package, port shuttle $15 per person, hourly, paid to the driver. Red Roof PLUS+ Miami Airport: one week free with the package, $16 a day beyond it ($5 a night without the package), port transfer $12 per person at 10:15, 11:15 and 12:15, booked by check-in through Doral Transportation — one-way only. Hampton Inn & Suites Blue Lagoon: parking up to seven nights, one vehicle per room, port transfer included for two guests and about $14 for each extra, and the hotel does not run a pier-to-hotel or pier-to-airport leg at all. Hilton Blue Lagoon: self-parking about $21 a night, port shuttle for a fee. Sheraton Miami Airport: $25 a night self-park, and no package or port shuttle could be sourced. Confirm everything when you book.

Prices and schedules change. Treat figures as ranges and check before booking.

5What to avoid

  • The cheaper downtown room with no parking plan — a $40 saving on the room disappears against $30-50 overnight parking plus $150+ at the port garage.
  • Assuming 'free parking' on a listing page means cruise parking. Unless the package is named and priced for the cruise length, it isn't.
  • Leaving the car beyond the package's stated days without paying the extension — airport hotels charge a penalty daily rate or tow.
  • Booking the package through a third-party site. Park-and-cruise rates are direct-booking products; the OTA room is just a room.

6Book

Use the rate links on each hotel above. If a hotel's value depends on a named package (park & cruise, shuttle), confirm the package with the hotel before you pay — packages are usually direct-booking rate codes, not OTA rooms.
