The Port of Galveston's own lots don't publish a flat rate — the price appears once you enter sailing dates — but third-party snapshots put a 7-day stay at roughly $178-223 all-in (about $25-32/day) once the port's service fee, access fee, city fee and sales tax are added. Private lots a few blocks away run $125-160 for the week. Genuinely free cruise parking at a hotel is now rare; what you're looking for is a hotel that holds the car for a known, lower price — and that number, added to the room, is what you should be comparing.
2What you actually need
Parking for the full length of the cruise, not just your overnight
Most hotels' 'free parking' means free while you are a guest. Cruise parking means the car stays 7-8 days after you check out. These are different products and the second one is usually a named package ('Park & Cruise', 'Snooze & Cruise'). Ask for it by name.
A confirmed way to get to the terminal without the car
Free parking is worthless if you then pay $25-40 each way for a rideshare with luggage. Check whether the package includes a terminal shuttle, what time it runs, and whether it is reserved per cabin or first-come.
The return leg
Disembarkation is early (typically 7-10am) and chaotic. Know how you get back to the car: hotel shuttle pickup, or your own rideshare. Some packages only cover the outbound run.
