A park-and-cruise (or 'park and sail') package bundles one night, parking for the length of the cruise, and usually a terminal shuttle. It is the single best-value product for drive-in cruisers — when it's priced honestly. In Galveston it's also rarer than the marketing suggests: as of our check, none of the 61st Street chain hotels sell one. The trap is comparing the package rate to the hotel's normal nightly rate and thinking you're being overcharged. The right comparison is package rate vs (room + 7 days port parking at ~$180-220 + two rideshares), and on that maths the real packages win by $50-150.
2What you actually need
The package's parking length, stated in days
Most cover 7 or 8 days. A 10-night cruise may need an add-on at a daily rate. Get it in writing.
Whether the shuttle is both ways and what it costs if not
Some packages include the outbound run only. The return rideshare is $15-25 — not a dealbreaker, but it changes the comparison.
How many people the shuttle seats are for
Packages are typically priced per room for 2 guests. A family of 5 with a stroller and 6 bags may need two shuttle slots or a paid upgrade.
Cancellation terms
Packages are often prepaid and non-refundable. If the cruise line changes your embarkation time — it happens — you want a hotel that will shift the shuttle, not one that pockets the money.

Port lots: roughly $178-223 all-in for 7 days depending on lot (late-2025 snapshot), cheaper pre-booked online. Private lots $125-160 for the week.
Who doesn't
As of our check: Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express West-Seawall, Wingate by Wyndham. Candlewood offers paid extended parking but no package.

5What to avoid
⚠️Judging the package by the nightly rate alone. A $250 package beats a $120 room once $200 of port parking and transfers are added.
⚠️Booking through an OTA and assuming the package is included. Park-and-cruise packages are almost always direct-booking rate codes; the OTA room is just a room. Use our link to reach the hotel, then confirm the package.
⚠️Leaving the car in a package hotel's lot for longer than the stated days without paying the extension — it will be towed or charged at a penalty daily rate.
⚠️Peak-week bookings (spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas) made less than a month out — packages sell out before plain rooms do.
