Your flight lands at MCO at 7am on the first wave from the Northeast, or you drove through the night down I-95 and I-4 and arrived at 8. Standard check-in is 3pm (4pm at some chains) and the hours in between are long with luggage and children. No hotel guarantees a free early check-in: what you can do is pick hotels where it is likely (24-hour desks at the airport and big I-Drive properties, high room counts, chains that sell an early check-in add-on or give it as a loyalty perk) and ask at booking so the desk is expecting you. The trap is arriving at 9am with no plan and paying for the previous night to get a room. In Orlando there is a second trap: checking in early to a theme park hotel on a Saturday in peak season, when every room turned over at 11am is already sold for that night.
2What you actually need
A 24-hour, staffed front desk
If nobody is at the desk before 7am, nobody can give you a room. Airport full-service hotels and the large I-Drive properties with overnight staff are the candidates; small US-192 motels where the desk opens at 8 are not.
Ask at booking, then call the morning of
Put 'early arrival, approx 9am' on the reservation and call the hotel the morning of arrival. The desk can prioritise cleaning a room for you, which is the single thing that actually makes early check-in happen.
Know the paid option
Several chains sell guaranteed early check-in as an add-on (typically a flat fee or a half-day rate) or give it as a loyalty-status perk. A $25-50 add-on beats paying for an extra night. Ask whether the hotel offers it.
A fallback for the bags and the morning
If the room is not ready, any staffed hotel will hold your luggage. Airport hotels with a breakfast room and a pool make the wait painless; on I-Drive you can leave the bags and walk to ICON Park.
A midweek, off-peak date
Early check-in depends on an empty clean room. On a Tuesday in September at an airport hotel, likely; on a Saturday in March at a Disney-area hotel, not a chance. If your arrival is fixed and the date is busy, book the previous night.
