Start with the honest answer: we could not find a single hotel at Port Canaveral that holds your car for the cruise for nothing. 'Free cruise parking' is how these packages are marketed, and it is how people search for them, but every property we checked charges — roughly $10 to $18 per night for the car, and usually a separate per-person fare for the shuttle on top. What makes it worth doing is the comparison, not the word free. Port Canaveral's own terminal parking is $20 a day plus tax and it bills both the day you arrive and the day you return, so a 7-night cruise is eight chargeable days — about $160 before tax. Against that, a hotel at $12 a night plus two shuttle fares saves real money and buys you a bed the night before. Against a 3-night sailing it often does not. Do the sum for your own cruise length; the numbers below are what each hotel actually asks.
2What you actually need
Parking for the full length of the cruise, not just your overnight
Ordinary 'free parking' means free while you are a guest. Cruise parking means the car sits 7-8 days after you check out, and it is a separate, named, priced product — 'Park & Cruise', 'Snooze, Park & Cruise', 'Park, Stay & Go'. Ask for it by name and ask for the per-night or per-package figure, because it is almost always per car rather than per room. Watch the caps too: the Radisson's package covers only four nights of cruise parking, and Country Inn prices in bands (up to 5 days, then 6-10 days).
A confirmed way to reach your terminal without the car
Port Canaveral's terminals are spread around the harbour and are not walkable from any hotel. Cheap parking only saves money once you add the transfer, and at most of these hotels the shuttle is charged per person each way — roughly $6 to $12 a head, sometimes with the first two people included in a package. For a family of four that fare can exceed the parking. Confirm the price per person, both directions, before you compare anything.
The return leg
Disembarkation runs early, typically 7-10am, and the terminal roads are busy. Know whether the hotel shuttle picks you up, where, and whether you need to call — or whether you are on your own for a rideshare back to the car.
Where the car actually sits, and whether it is covered
Some A1A hotels hold cruise cars in an overflow or partner lot rather than on-site. Ask whether it is fenced and lit. In summer, a week in the Florida sun matters; in hurricane season (June-November), ask what the hotel does if a storm is forecast.

5What to avoid
⚠️Searching for 'free cruise parking' and believing the first listing that uses the phrase. At Port Canaveral it is a marketing term; every hotel we checked charges for the cruise-length car park.
⚠️The cheaper hotel in south Cocoa Beach with no cruise parking — a $30/night saving disappears against about $160 of port parking plus two rideshares.
⚠️Assuming 'free parking' on a listing page means cruise parking. Unless the package is named and priced for the cruise length, it isn't, and the car may be towed from the guest lot.
⚠️Forgetting the shuttle fare. At $12 per person each way, four people cost $96 in transfers — more than a week of the parking itself at some of these hotels.
⚠️Booking a package hotel through an OTA. Park-and-cruise rates are almost always direct-booking codes; the OTA room is just a room.
⚠️Leaving the car in a hotel lot past the package's stated days without arranging the extension — expect a penalty daily rate.
